Anna Karvounari is a Greek conceptual photographer based in Athens. Her photographic practice has focused exclusively on self portraiture, using her own body as both subject and visual language. Her work explores female identity, self perception, vulnerability, memory, and the tension between personal experience and social expectations.
Her images are contructed in camera, using handmade props, and ordinary materials transformed into symbolic elements. Her face often remains concealed or fragmented, shifting attention away from likeness and towards gesture, posture, and the emotional language of the body. What begins as personal introspection opens into broader reflections on womanhood, inner transformation, and the roles women inherit, resist, and redefine.
Her photographs have been exhibited internationally and recognized in numerous photography competitions. Through carefully constructed images, she creates a space where the personal and the collective, vulnerability and strength, can coexist.
